MBABANE – Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Board of Governors member and Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows’ outspoken Director, Charles Matsebula, has been called by the EFA to explain his utterances in the media.

This follows revelations yesterday that Matsebula was given 14 days by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) to explain why he should not be charged for various utterances he is accused of making in local newspapers.

Possession

This publication is in possession of the letter from the country’s football mother body compelling Matsebula to respond within the stipulated timeframe, failing which he is likely to be charged in terms of articles 23 and 24 of the regulations governing the application of the EFA statutes.

“The EFA notes with great concern that you have come out and made several interviews with the local newspapers whereby you made various utterances, which were not in the good spirit of football and which brought football into disrepute,” the letter directed to Matsebula and signed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngometulu.

Matsebula confirmed receipt of the letter from the EFA but mentioned that he was not ready to comment yet.
“I received the letter you are talking about but I have nothing to say for now.

“I am consulting and I will respond in due course,” the long-serving Black Swallows official said. No immediate comment could be obtained from Mngometulu at the time of compiling this report last night.
Matsebula has been a recognisable face among the PLE Board of Governors in their battle to bring administrative changes in the organisation’s leadership structures.
