MBABANE – The Manzini Wanderers Management Committee (MC) has apologised to Mbabane Highlanders’ Director Ally Kgomongwe and the team.

MC Brand Manager Vusi ‘Majay’vane Dlamini said they were truly sorry to the capital giants’ director and the team for having put their names in disrepute.

Dlamini disassociated themselves from a Wanderers letter that was circulating on various social media platforms on Sunday directed at the capital giants’ Public Relations Officer (PRO), Paul ‘Magidza’ Masilela and signed by the Chairman of the Select Committee only identified as J. Fakudze.

According to the letter, the hub side requested the PRO to assist the committee meet with Kgomongwe as it stated that they (select committee) were tasked with finding a suitable individual or consortium to take over the day-to-day running of the club (Wanderers) including financial and general administration.

Notified

Chairman of the Council of Elders Joe Nkumane acknowledged having approached Kgomongwe in their search for a potential sponsor or director and Kgomongwe confirmed having been notified of the news and having had discussions with club director Sandile ‘Chief’ Dlamini on the subject matter.

“We apologise to Mbabane Highlanders and the director for being identified with something that involves the team (Highlanders)’s name and their director,” said Dlamini.

The brand manager further disclosed that they expected senior officials of the team to summon the MC to give clarity over the matter as they were not aware of it.

“The sad part is that angry Wanderers supporters have been calling me all day demanding answers on the matter as I should be in an informed position as a brand manager but I am also in the dark,” he said.

He said as the MC, it was not their duty to scout for a potential investors or director but they should be informed of the recruitment process and present whoever had been appointed to the supporters and other stakeholders. Dlamini said supporters must be aware that those who wrote the letter to meet Kgomongwe made a wrong approach.

“We do not know on what capacity the person who wrote the letter did it but we still expect explanations,” he said.
He conceded that the issue has ruined the name of the club and has the potential to even alienate the supporters. The club’s director, Dlamini, politely asked not to comment on the issue when reached for comment yesterday.
