MBABANE – The Equestrian Federation of Eswatini (EFE) is struggling under the current situation.

The federation has not hosted an official tournament in 2020 due to the outbreak of the novel COVID-19 (coronavirus).
The only event they could host was the 2019 EFE Awards Night and Dinner held at Malandelala’s Restaurant in Malkerns on February 29, 2020.

This coming weekend, on May 30 and 31, the local equestrian federation was due to host their second biggest competition of the year, the SL Graded SJ Show.

This was one of the events that would have seen international participants taking part in the competition but it will not continue and has been suspended indefinitely due to the prevailing situation of the coronavirus, which has devastated the entire globe.

Billed

The major first competition the EFE had to host was the EFE Graded SJ Show, which was billed for Nyanza Stables on March 30 and 31, 2020.
This was the first event cancelled by the EFE after government suspended all sporting activities and international participation for Eswatini, in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.

EFE’s Jeanine van Wyk confirmed that they would not be hosting the competition this coming weekend because it had been indefinitely deferred due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Unfortunately there are currently no competitions hosted but we are very lucky that some of the stable yards are allowing riders to continue training their horses and keeping them fit,” said Van Wyk.
The next important event for the federation, as per their 2020 draft calendar, should be the second leg of the EFE Graded SJ Show on the weekend of June 6 and 7.
