MBABANE – The ban of sporting activities has not deterred Correctional netball player Abigail Simelane from training.

The Correctional player, who also plays for the volleyball team, says training has become her lifestyle and stopping now would be a challenge for her.

“I train once a day to keep fit. I train indoors and do push-ups, triceps dips, squats and sit-ups. When I am training outdoors I joj. Before the lockdown I used to train outdoors or at the gym with my teammates,” said Simelane.
She said the fact that they were not training outdoors should not be an excuse not to train.

“The main goal is to keep a healthy lifestyle. My other target is to be fit so that when the season resumes, I can manage to play,” she said.

“Training boosts the immune system so that one can minimise the spread of the coronavirus,” she added.
When asked what her take on league resumption in netball meant for her, she said: “My opinion is that the league should continue if things get back to normal. We miss netball and we are hoping that they find a vaccine for the virus,” she said.

She also advised sportspeople to always observe WHO precautionary measures.
“Remember to wash your hands with soap and water, and sanitise them. Always wear a face mask when going outside or when with others. Let’s stay home and be safe,” said Simelane.
