MBABANE – “If people feel that I am the problem at Mbabane Highlanders, then I am ready to step down immediately.”

These were the words of Mbabane Highlanders Managing Director (MD) Ally Kgomongwe, when reacting to concerns from some of the team’s supporters that there was constant changing and chopping in the management structures.

This follows the unexpected resignation of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Melusi Dlamini in recent days, hardly months after erstwhile head-coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati also left his position amid the team’s Ingwenyama Cup final defeat to Green Mamba at the Somhlolo National Stadium.

critical

Some of the team’s followers have been very critical on social media platforms of the fact that officials are coming and going in the team’s structures, causing uncertainty, but Kgomongwe minced no words in stating that some of the people he was working with were displaying a high level of dishonesty.

“There are some dishonest officials at Highlanders who come with hidden agendas and this is creating the lack of harmony. This is my first season with Highlanders but I have noticed that there are some people that cannot be trusted.

preference

‘‘When I took over at Highlanders, I decided to be democratic and allowed the supporters to appoint people of their preference in the MC. I was not even involved in the appointment of the CEO (Melusi) and knew little about him.

I prefer working with loyal people, not those that are driven by personal interests. I hear that people are complaining about the change of officials in the team and if I am fingered as the cause of this, then I am ready to step down,” Kgomongwe said.
