MBABANE – She has salvaged the dire situation. That is Her Royal Highness Inkhosikati LaMbikiza, who is the Patron for hub giants Manzini Wanderers.
The maroon and white outfit had been struggling for months now since the departure of sole Director in South Africa-based businessman Mehluli Nhlengetfwa.
The team Management Committee (MC) led by lawyer Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli has numerously admitted that the team was faced with a financial crisis and players were owed salaries.

Head coach Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe has told the media several times that players were hardly paid and they played because of their love for the team. The coach had applauded the players’ efforts in attending training sessions, though on a number of occasions they did so on empty stomachs

.
The hub side have made it no secret that they were in search of a director or financial funder to run the team and their options were wide open.
The team’s Patron, Inkhosikati LaMbikiza, has been supporting the team through these challenging times in a number of ways.

The Council of Elders Acting Chairman, Joe Nkumane, exclusively disclosed yesterday to this publication that their patron had helped the team once again.
Most teams are struggling to sustain themselves after the outbreak of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic as the MTN Premier League was suspended for two months while teams mostly depended on gate takings.

“It is a difficult time and we thank our patron for her kind gesture last week so for her assistance to alleviate the situation. She bought food parcels for the players,” said Nkumane.
The acting chairman added that as elders, they were also not folding their arms but were on a mission to find a solution to help salvage the situation at Wanderers.

“We are on a campaign to collect funds from where we can,” he said.
Nkumane also disclosed that they had to meet as the council of elders this week but they found out that there were now strict rules of ‘buy and go’ at the restaurant where they had planned to hold the meeting.

“This therefore posed a challenge for us, I suppose we will now meet next Tuesday at a venue we are yet to identify to find out how far the members have gone in their quest to seek help,” he said.
The chairman said it was important that they come up with a conclusive solution to their challenges before the league games resume.
