MBABANE – Social media has been swarmed with videos of players, both local and international, taking on the #stayathomechallenge where they juggle a roll of toilet paper.

The trending #stayathomechallenge was started by Barcelona’s Riqui Puig but it became popular when Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi joined the challenge.
The rules are simple. A footballer, or anyone for that matter, simply juggles a roll of toilet paper like a soccer ball, trying to get 10 touches in a row before the roll hits the ground.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic that has plagued the world at large, all sporting activities and in particular football, have been suspended as a precautionary measure.
With no training taking place for teams, players have come up with their own ways of staying in shape.

Fun

Of course, there has been a fun element added to it with the toilet roll challenge, as seen by Mbabane Swallows’ Wonder ‘Samba Jive’.
His teammates in Sanele Mkhweli and Sizolwethu Shabalala also joined the challenge as they were seen on social media site, Instagram doing the same challenge.

Other players who have participated in the tissue challenge are former Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher, retired Manchester United defender Gary Neville, Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch, former Chelsea defender John Terry, and retired Arsenal striker Thierry Henry.

Others are Mamelodi Sundowns’ Hlompho Kekana and Kaizer Chiefs’ Itumeleng Khune to mention a few. The videos were either posted on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or YouTube.
