MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows’ dreams of competing in the CAF Confederation Cup will be put to tough test after they were drawn against newly-crowned Ingwenyama Cup champions Green Mamba in the EswatiniBank Cup quarter-finals this weekend.

The draw for the last 8 matches of this prestigious tournament was conducted yesterday at EswatiniBank headquarters in Mbabane where Swallows/Green Mamba proved to be the pick of the quarter-final matches.

On-song Young Buffaloes will have their hands full when they cross swords with the unpredictable Moneni Pirates while Ingwenyama Cup losing finalists Mbabane Highlanders will be looking to book a spot in the semi-finals when they square up against struggling Malanti Chiefs.

The capital city giants are fresh from a morale-draining 0-2 defeat to Green Mamba in the recent Ingwenyama Cup final and will be looking to bounce back from this disappointing result with a convincing display against the faltering Pigg’s Peak-based side.
The quarter-final draw is completed by a clash pitting Tambuti FC, who will tackle first division league outfit Madlenya FC in what promises to be an interesting game of teams that are largely considered as the remaining minnows in this tournament.

Draw

Present to witness the draw included EswatiniBank Managing Director (MD) Zakhele Lukhele alongside Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) chairman Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula and Eswatini Football Association (EFA) executive member Sonnyboy Mabuza among others.

The tournament’s management committee (MC) Chairman, Johannes ‘Ace’ Siboza, wished all the quarter-finalists the best of luck ahead of the weekend games. “We are aware that some of the quarter-finalists have a dream of qualifying for the CAF Competition and winning this tournament carries that ticket.

It all starts this weekend in the quarter-final games and we wish all the remaining teams the best of luck in their games,” Siboza said.
