MBABANE – Will Mbabane Highlanders skipper Jimoh Moses eventually make the cut in this afternoon’s Ingwenyama Cup semi-final?

The past year’s runners-up host surprise package Tambankulu Callies in a semi-final clash at Somhlolo National Stadium at 2pm. Fresh reports from impeccable sources suggest the dependable defender (Moses) is doubtful for this afternoon’s showdown and top team officials have suggested that he should be withdrawn from the starting team to avoid a last minute withdrawal that ‘disrupts’ the coach.

“It has been suggested by team officials that he (Jimoh) should be withdrawn from the starting team to avoid repeating the past week’s situation.  Last week, goalkeeper Khanyakezwe Shabalala and other players were withdrawn just before the game and the coach was inconvenienced,” alleged the impeccable source.

refuted the allegations

However, Highlanders Head of Secretariat Bhekisisa Dlamini refuted the allegations surrounding Moses, saying the latter was fit and raring to go. He said players who were confirmed out of the game were enterprising winger Kenneth Moloto from South Africa, who is out with a serious ankle injury. The duo of goalkeeper Phila ‘Paras’ Mamba and striker Josef also failed fitness tests late yesterday. However, goalkeeper Khanyakezwe Shabalala has recovered from his back injury. Mxolisi Dlamini will be another option between the sticks.

available for selection

Striker from Nigeria Bolanle Bidemi, on the other hand, is said to be available for selection this afternoon. He was supposed to make his debut last Sunday in the 1-all draw with Green Mamba but his name was eventually cancelled in the starting team.

There was another Nigerian midfielder Highlanders had reportedly registered but reports suggested that the team now had a change of heart.
Meanwhile, tickets for today’s game featuring a match-up between Green Mamba and Moneni Pirates had started selling fast early yesterday.
At least 6 000 tickets were issued and each retails at E40.

Around lunch time, figures were nearing the 1 000 mark. Tickets are on sale at MTN Service Centre in Bhunu Mall in Manzini, Total Garage (Nazarene), Mahhala MTN Service Centre, and Lobamba Police/Car Wash, Gables in Ezulwini, Ezulwini Galp Filling Station, Woodlands Shopping Complex and MTN Service Centre (Msakato Street next to Destiny).
