MBABANE – It seems Manzini Wanderers’ financial woes will soon be a thing of the past.

A South Africa-born businessman is closely linked with taking over the reins at the hub giants as a sole director.
According to sources close to the matter, the businessman, whose name will not be revealed until his official unveiling by the club, has shown great interest and cooperation in taking over as the team’s sole director.

The sources have confided to this publication that talks between the team and the potential director are at an advanced stage and it was highly likely that he is officially introduced to the team elders and patrons before the end of this week.

Deal

“It is an almost done deal, the businessman has had fruitful talks with the party leading the negotiations,” confided the source.
Another informed source confirmed that they had learned of the developments but they were not aware who this South African was.
“We have heard of the negotiations with the potential South Africa-born businessman but all we have heard is that the matter is handled by the Management Committee (MC) Chairman Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli who will unveil the director once everything was concluded,” confided the other source.

Recently, news of a liSwati South Africa-based businessman, who is a staunch supporter of the team, was reported over a possible takeover after donating E180 000 for players’ owed salaries.
Sources claim, due to division within the club, it made it impossible for the businessman to consider such position.
This, therefore prompted management to seek a director and the South African seems to be the perfect candidate.

Developments

The team Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini was drawn for comment on the latest developments and politely asked not to comment as he said it was an issue handled at superior level. “I opt not to respond on that. It is not at my level,” he said briefly.

When drawn for comment, the chairman first rejected the call, indicating he was busy and when tried later, his mobile phone was off.
The last attempt was made at 7:35pm and a WhatsApp message had been sent to him, which he had not responded to by the time of going to print.
