MBABANE – Former Sihlangu shot-stopper Sandile ‘Nkomishi’ Ginindza has reportedly completed a switch back to Mbabane Swallows.

The former Eswatini international has been cleared back to Swallows by South Africa’s GladAfrica Championship (National First Division) side Mbombela United. He has reportedly put pen to paper at Swallows and joins the team on a two-year deal. The 31-year-old, who has been training with the capital city giants, makes an emotional return to boost the goalkeeping department led by Sandanezwe Mathabela.

Mbombela United Chairman Oupa Mathebula, when sought for comment, confirmed clearing the goalkeeper back to the team he left in 2018, saying the decision was influenced by the latter’s lack of game time.
“He is a national team goalkeeper, so he deserves to play regularly. He still had a contract with us,” said Mathebula, without disclosing the finer details of the deal.

As today marks deadline day for the second window registration period, the official arrival of ‘Nkomishi’ coincides with the exit of striker Thabiso Mokenkoane, who has officially joined Leopard. He is expected to make his debut against Moneni Pirates tomorrow. Leopard PRO Frank Hurube confirmed that the deal was at an advanced stage by yesterday, thanking Swallows for being welcoming during negotiations.

“So far the talks with Swallows have been fruitful and everything should be in place by the end of the day. Swallows have done things professionally throughout the negotiations and we would like to commend that,” he said.

Another notable signing by Leopard so far is that of former Mhlume Peacemakers striker Sidumo Dlamini.
Meanwhile, Mokenkoane’s transfer, according to impeccable sources, is said to be a loan deal involving Menzi Sithole, who is a police officer, who was attached to Mbabane Highlanders.

Swallows Marketing and Communications Manager Mancoba Mabuza could only confirm that the ‘Nkomishi’ deal was almost complete.
“I can also confirm that we have released Mokenkoane to Leopard,” he said. The return of ‘Nkomishi’ signals the start of the fierce competition between Mathabela and Ginindza. Currently deputising for Mathabela is Ntokozo Shabangu.
