OVER E100 000 FOR YELLOW EPILEPSY MARATHON

EZULWINI – With barely 30 days remaining before the Yellow Epilepsy Charity Half Marathon, companies have shown support towards the annual race.


This was witnessed when two companies in Times of Eswatini and Build-it (Nhlangano and Mbabane branch) made donations to the value of E110 000. Times donated E100 000 while the latter gave out E10 000 for the good cause.


The four-in-one race featuring 21km, 12km, 5km, and 3.3km events will be held at Sikhuphe near the Epilepsy Centre on February 16. The main race will start at 6am.


Speaking during the event, Eswatini Epilepsy Organisation (EEO) patron Prince Bandzile lauded the companies for partnering with them for a good cause.

“This is a sign that we are starting the year on a good note. His Majesty, the King rightly envisaged that it will be a good year with blessings and our organisation has not been left behind. We want to thank the companies for the support towards this noble cause,” the prince said.
He further lauded emaswati for practising a healthy lifestyle.


“It is really pleasing to note that emaSwati are taking up exercising seriously. This is a way of life and if we stick by it, we will be a healthy nation. I have noted as we drive on the roads, emaswati jogging. We encourage others to follow suit and also partake in this races like Yellow Epilepsy Charity Half Marathon. This race is an initiative to help those living with epilepsy and we appeal for more support from the nation,” the prince added.

Times of Eswatini Managing Editor Martin Dlamini celebrated joining hands in the noble initiative.
“We advocate for a healthy lifestyle and it pleases us to be one of the partners of the epilepsy organisation.What also drives us to join hands with the organisation is that it is a charity race where emaswati will benefit,” Dlamini said.

Build-it Assistant Manager Eugene Mayer said they were proud to be partners in this race and were looking forward to donate further 20 cases of water.
Meanwhile, the EEO National Director, Mbusomuni Mahlalela, said they were happy that companies were very supportive of the initiative. He also highlighted that they will also be celebrating Valentines Day where attendees were expected to dress in yellow.

He also disclosed that they would also be commemorating the International Epilepsy Day during the race. He further revealed that the registration had already opened and would close on February 15. Registration forms are available at Fitness Zone in Manzini and Epilepsy Offices in Mbabane.
