MBABANE – In a bid to strengthen their attack, Mbabane Highlanders have approached Royal Leopard over speedy striker Bonginkosi ‘Manyovu’ Dlamini.
It has been gathered from impeccable sources within the club that Highlanders officially held talks with Leopard yesterday whereby the black and white side’s patron Benson Dlamini was one of the officials.

“I have been at training and know we’re negotiating to sign ‘Manyovu’ from Leopard. Some officials went to meet Leopard over the striker yesterday (Wednesday) and from what I gathered, Leopard want us to be clear on the terms on which we want him. If it’s a loan or outright buying it should be clear,” explained one source.

Another also claimed that should this deal materialise, it could see midfielder Menzi Sithole go the other way. However, further investigations into Sithole’s issue showed that he was not part of the ‘Manyovu’ talks.
“The two play different positions so there’s no way we can give away Menzi and ask for a striker,” responded senior official in Dlamini when questioned about it.

He said it was currently premature to even discuss it in public but conceded that they were trying their best to get some forwards who would add value upfront.
“Before you even sign any player, the director must be involved so we can’t be talking ‘Manyovu’ at this stage and we also must respect the other clubs for smooth relationships,” he said. Leopard Public Relations Officer (PRO) Frank Hurube was reached on the news.

“It’s true, we were approached for ‘Manyovu’ by the Mbabane team. They negotiated with my chairman but he informed me about it as well so we can’t beat about the bush, there is interest,” he said.

Hurube said while he could not divulge details of their agreements, he could confirm talks were ongoing over the player’s release. The police ensemble’s PRO also refuted claims they were set to sign Mbabane Swallows want-away South African striker Thabiso Mokenkoane after some sources claimed they had interest.

Meanwhile, efforts to get ‘Manyovu’ were in vain at the time as his cellphone was unavailable on the network.
