MBABANE – Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows striker Allen Mabuza is cup-tied to play for Mbabane Swallows in the Ingwenyama Cup.

Cup-tied is when a player has represented or played for a team in a tournament game and as a result is unable to represent another team in the same tournament. Mabuza played for Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows in the last 32 round of the tournament and they lost 0-1 to National First Division League side Seven Dreams. The national team, Sihlangu striker is due to sign with the red and white and is expected to make his debut for Swallows when the MTN Premier League resumes in a fortnight time.

Training

He started training with the red and white outfit on Monday where he was joined by former ‘Birds’ stars in Mandla Palma and Sanele Mkhweli, who will be eligible to play having played for Manzini Wanderers earlier this season, but not in the Ingwenyama Cup.

According to article 4.2 of the Ingwenyama Cup 2019/ 20 rules and regulations, a player shall not be eligible to play for more than one club in the tournament and that all clubs shall use their current registered players in terms of the prevailing regulations for the status and transfer of players as promulgated by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA).

Meanwhile, after Mbabane Swallows announced that Mabuza has joined the, Black Swallows Chairman Charles Matsebula denied that and said the player still belongs to them and they were still in negotiations with Mbabane Swallows. “It is childish and embarrassing for a team to rush to issue a statement claiming a player has joined them before all parties agree and put everything into paper. I’m very disappointed that a statement over the player has been issued while he is still our player. He only went to Mbabane Swallows for medical checkups not to train with them,” he said.

Swallows released a statement on Tuesday afternoon over Mabuza signing through Communications and Marketing Manager Mancoba Mabuza which reads: “Allen Mabuza is joining us from Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows FC.  We assure our supporters and stakeholders of his capabilities; we are confident that he will add value in the club. We thank Black Swallows for the successful and professional negotiations regarding the player.” The player is currently training with Swallows.
