MBABANE  – He continued from where he left off last year.

That is the story of Mbabane Golf Club captain Kenneth Nkambule, who was the winner of the first Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ESRIC) Monthly Mug of 2020. The captain carded an impressive mug net score of 71 to claim the mug ahead of Valentine Maziya at Mbabane Golf Club on Saturday. The latter could have won the mug if he was a member of the Mbabane Golf Club as he carded a net score of 70. Nkambule was runner-up in the Njomane Golf tournament and MTN Monthly Masters, which were played last month.

Strive

“I was happy to win the competition as recently I had been finishing as runner-up. Finally, I managed to win something. It’s an achievement which will drive me to strive to do even better in upcoming tournaments,” Nkambule said. He also highlighted that the reason he was playing well was because he took advantage of the Mbabane Golf Club Christmas special where members paid affordable fees to practise at the golf course any time. The competition attracted a record 71 golfers. Siboniso Mkhwanazi defended his gross mug after outshining two professional golfers, Meshack Zwane and Peter Dlamini. Nelsiwe Mathebela won the ladies section. Ladies captain Fisiwe Vilane was the runner-up.
