MBABANE – Serbia-born gaffer Svetislav Tanasijevic has reportedly shown interest to replace countryman Kostadin Papic at Sihlangu.

Eswatini Football Association (EFA) did not renew Papic’s one-year contract which expired three days ago. Even though the country’s football mother body is yet to advertise the post, coaches in the country and beyond are already in the race to fill the vacant post.

Tanasijevic, who used to coach the Serbian national Under-20 side back in 2015, is said to be latest gaffer to join the race.
The 43-year-old, who is UEFA A Licence holder, is currently in charge of Ghanaian top side FC Ashanti Gold. He has also coached in Russia and Ukraine.
EFA Marketing and Communications Manager Muzi Radebe said he was yet to learn about those applying for the job and his office was still closed for the holidays until Monday.

“The executive will meet before the end of the month and the issue of the vacant post will also be tabled.  We understand it has to be prioritised. Even if offices are open, we usually don’t disclose the list of the applicants,” he said.

Local coaches who are linked with the post include Dominic Kunene of Young Buffaloes and Gcina ‘Magiyane’ Dlamini, who is in charge of Moneni Pirates. The duo also leads the national Under-20s and Under-17s sides, respectively.
