SHAN WINS UGI LEG OF LAMB

 MBABANE - Manzini golfer and well-established businessman Shane Groening is the reigning champion of the United General Insurance (UGI) Leg of Lamb played at the Royal Swa- zi Spa Golf course last Friday.

He scored a brilliant 21 points to walk away with the coolest prize after beating a field of over 20 golfers. “What more can I say, I just had a good game,” remarked Groening about his ster- ling performance, which also saw him walking away with the nearest to the pin prize on hole 3.

Groening was closely followed with 20 points by senior citizen Frank Hlophe, who finished third in the same competition the previous week. This time around, Hlophe beat renowned golfer and businessman Patson Dlamini on a countback for the second position. Occupying the fourth spot was another es- teemed businessman Vusi ‘Futis’ Dlamini with 19 points followed by yet another entrepreneur

Pastor Victor Masilela, who scored a cool 17 points. The longest drive on hole four went to its habitual winner Vusi G. Dlamini. As is customary with the UGI Leg of Lamb, there were three lucky prizes drawn on the day. These went to Phindokuhle Ndlangamandla, Ray Dlamini and Thomas Nhlengetfwa. The tournament is played every Friday and it has attracted impressive numbers since its launch in early November 2019.  It is made popular by the excellent prizes on offer.

Splendid

Speaking during the prize-giving ceremony, UGI Operations Manager Patrick Gamedze congratulat- ed the winners for their splendid display against an equally skilled field of golfers. “Our company remains indebted to all of you for your interminable support of the tournament. We’re highly encouraged to continue supporting this magnificent get-together of the good cream of the Eswatini golfing community,” he said.  Gamedze indicated that the tournament might take a short break for the festive season after next week
