E1.4M FOR INGWENYAMA CUP CHAMPS

MBABANE – The champions’ prize money that had been proposed for the third edition of the Ingwenyama Cup has been adopted – E1.4 million is the grand prize.


Initially, as exclusively reported by our sister publication the Times of Eswatini daily on Thursday, it was proposed that this edition’s prize money for champions be at E1 350 000, meaning a E50 000 increase before it touches E1.4 million in the third edition of the E12 million sponsorship package to be over three years for the lucrative Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF)-sponsored Ingwenyama Cup.


According to the Rules and Regulations of this edition, the fifth in total, as officially released yesterday by the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) through the tournament’s Management Committee (MC) Secretary Pat Vilakati, the final edition of 2020/2021 season’s breakdown was brought forward.

It will also be E530 000 for the runners-up, an increase of E20 000 from last edition’s prize which was won by Mbabane Highlanders. Army side Young Buffaloes are the defending champions and currently in good shape to contend for a second consecutive title. For losing semi-finalists, it will be E420 000 which indicates a E15 000 increase. This also means each losing semi-finalist gets E210 000 then E75 000 each for losing quarter-finalists which is unchanged.
Also worth noting is that the Best Editor Award is back with a money value of E6 000 while the Player of the Series walks away with E15 000.
