MBABANE – The Royal Leopard technical bench had to answer for the team’s recent poor performance.

This was last Thursday where the team’s Management Committee (MC) summoned the Edwin Matsebula-led technical bench over the team’s performance.
According to sources within the police outfit, there are ongoing challenges within the team and the meeting was aimed at addressing some of the issues.
“Things are not going well at the team and the meeting is aimed at addressing some of those challenges,” confided a source.

The team’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Frank Hurube, said it was a regular meeting for the MC with the technical bench when sought for comment yesterday.
According to Hurube, following the team’s recent poor performance, they decided to meet to unearth what stopped them from playing their normal winning football game.

“We meet regularly and it is true that we met with the technical bench in trying to determine what the problem that resulted in poor performance was,” he said.
The PRO added that they tried to establish from the technical bench what really was the problem for them not to win games.

He then highlighted that they could not establish any challenge from the technical bench as the report they got was that all was well and the players were not facing any challenges that might have an effect in playing football.
“The technical bench said the players were all ok and injuries were not an issue,” he said.

assignment

Eight players for the police outfit are away with Sihlangu on international assignment in Guinea-Bissau for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) first leg qualifier billed for tomorrow afternoon.

As this was the case, Hurube divulged that they would call the team players after the national team assignments to find out what was going on.
“Most of them are with the national team so it will not make sense to meet the remaining few. We will have to wait for the others to return before we meet,” he said.

Hurube said it was possible that the players had a problem that they could only find out if they met for discussion. In their last elite league fixture, Leopard were held to a 1-all draw by Denver Sundowns. That was before they were held by Tambuti with the same score.
