MBABANE – Young Buffaloes marksman Sandile ‘Saviola’ Gamedze is ‘trigger happy’.

After round 10 in the MTN Premier League, the Sihlangu attacking midfielder has stretched his lead on the scorers’ charts to 11 goals. He fired a brace in the 3-all draw with Tambuti at Mavuso Sports Centre two days ago.

With three games to go, ‘Saviola’ is now a favourite to win the first round Golden Boot’ Award, as he is four goals clear of his closest challenger in Mxolisi Mkhontfo of Green Mamba. Mbabane Swallows’ Sandile Hlatshwako still completes the top three with six goals. Allen Mabuza, Ali Matse, Sidumo Dlamini and Lizwe  Zwane of Black Swallows, Buffaloes, Mhlume  Peacemakers and Moneni Pirates, respectively, have also kept the top spot within touching distance with five goals apiece.

Reagan Kangumbu of Tambuti, on the other hand, is now in the picture, thanks to his brace in the six-goal thriller against Buffaloes. He is on four goals alongside Swallows’ skipper Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze.

‘Saviola’, in a recent interview, said he had targeted 10 goals in the first round and 15 at the end of the season. This means it is so far so good for him.
A player topping the charts after round 13 will become E8 000 richer.  The sharp shooter at the end of the season will get E10 000. In essence, a player topping the charts in the first round and at the end of the campaign will become E18 000 richer.
