MBABANE – It what will shock the football fraternity, Manzini Wanderers star Leon Manyisa’s contract with European side FC Van has been terminated.
The termination comes after both parties (FC Van and Vovovo FC, his former team) amicably agreed to part ways amicably.

According to a source close to the matter, the team failed to provide a residential apartment. The source further alleged that FC Van delayed his first salary. The source alleged that the coach was not seeing eye to eye with Manyisa so he urged the Armenia-based side to terminate his contract. The Times Sports Desk was also made to understand that Manyisa felt not welcome.

Manyisa officially joined FC Van on September 20 and had managed to be not only in the last 18 but came on as a substitute for the past four games the team played. In the game against FC Ani, where FC Van won 5-0, he provided an assist to the last goal. FC Van were on the second spot of the Armenia First Division League.

unexpected

When reached for comment, former FIFA-accredited agent Victor McDonald confirmed the unexpected developments.
“It’s true that his contract was terminated. It was a gentleman’s agreement after both parties felt it was good for the player. However, Eswatini should not despair because we know that Manyisa is talented and we will facilitate another move. However, it will depend on the player if he is willing to try his luck elsewhere in Europe,” McDonald said.

“Another factor which led to his deal not working out is that his full salary was delayed because they couldn’t secure his residence card which he would have used to open a bank account where his salary would be deposited. Otherwise, the team liked the player; it’s just unfortunate that the team did not meet some of its contractual obligations,” the former agent said.

comments

Efforts to get comments for Manyisa proved futile as he said Vovovo Director Sipho ‘Tsetla’ Bhembe could comment on his behalf.
Bhembe said it was unfortunate that the team did not meet some of the contractual obligations.

“All is not lost for Manyisa. There were teams that were after his signature soon after seeing him in action for FC Van. However, we could not make an immediate decision on his next move until we meet with the player in person and discuss his future,” Bhembe said. He also disclosed that they would leave today (yesterday) for Armenia and would return home tomorrow (today).

Home

“If we do not conclude another deal in Europe, we will come with him home and he will play for Manzini Wanderers as the one-year contract was a loan deal,” he added.

Meanwhile, Manzini Wanderers PRO Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini referred all questions to the Chairman, Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli. When contacted, Mdluli described this as a blessing in disguise for Manyisa.

“I have been made to understand that he will come back home after the deal did not work out. However, when he left, he received the blessings of the team and we will welcome him back home. We value him as a player and looking forward to his input,” Mdluli said.

agreement

Manyisa joined Manzini Wanderers early this season on a gentleman’s agreement with his former team Vovovo FC. This means that he is currently on loan to Manzini Wanderers and Vovovo holds the rights to the player. Whenever he gets offers, Vovovo are also involved in the deals as the player belongs to them.
