THREAT FOR ‘BUFFS’ FLAWLESS RECORD

MBABANE – Unbeaten Young Buffaloes’ head-to-head record against Royal Leopard does not make for reverting reading ahead of this Wednesday’s top-of-the-table clash.

Buffaloes and Leopard, who are second and third with 18 points apiece, respectively, on the charts renew their rivalry in what promises to be a crackerjack MTN Premier League catch-up fixture at Somhlolo National Stadium at 3:30pm.
Buffaloes may be boasting a 100 per cent record after winning all their six games this season but they have reasons to be wary against the police outfit that have dominated in this fixture.

synonymous

While this fixture has become synonymous with draws, Buffaloes have only prevailed once in the last 10 league meetings. Leopard have won three times while six matches have ended in stalemates.

Last season, Buffaloes failed to beat Leopard in the league after losing 2-0 in the last game of the season.
In the first round game, which was played at Killarney Sports Ground in Pigg’s Peak on December 1, 2018, the teams settled for a 1-all draw.

Buffaloes coach Dominic Kunene said the previous results were the least of his worries, as they would come prepared for the opponents.
“We’ll prepare and not focus on past results. It will be a new game altogether and we know the opposition’s strengths and weaknesses.
“As a coach, there is little to do in this fixture, as the players are self-motivated,” he said.

Leopard gaffer Edwin Matsebula’s phone repeatedly rang unanswered when sought for comment.
The winner of the game will unseat Mbabane Swallows at the top. The latter are just two points clear.

After the midweek game, focus will shift to the ‘Y’ello’ Sunday games featuring mouth-watering match-ups at Somhlolo National Stadium.
Swallows face Buffaloes at 1pm while giants Mbabane Highlanders entertain fellow heavyweights Manzini Wanderers about two hours later in what can be dubbed the match of the round.
