ALL EYES ON ‘KOKI’ AT LEOPARD

MBABANE – Its only coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati’s second match in charge after narrowly losing 0-1 to Buffaloes on Tuesday night at Somhlolo National Stadium.

Given the outstanding performance against the army side, the supporters who are currently coming out in large numbers to watch their club, will expect a better result against the police side. They will recall that their Highlanders got past Royal Leopard in the recent Eswatini Telecom Charity Cup. Also, Leopard failed to beat Highlanders last season as they shared the spoils but this is a different game, different coaches and players.

Both good sides

These are both good sides with the players doing the job for their coaches and supporters. Highlanders is the team that needs this one most to stay within close range of the pacesetters, Swallows, and the security forces teams. Vilakati seemed to impress the supporters with his team selection against Buffaloes as he brought back senior players, some of whom had been benched by the club’s Charity Cup winning coach Zenzele ‘Ace’ Dlamini, who was last week re-appointed as technical director.

Back on the team

These included the likes of defender Jimoh Moses, attacking midfielder Phumlani Ngwenya, defender-cum-midfielder Simphiwe Manana, South African striker, Muzikayise Ngidi, and had defensive midfielder Menzi Mamba back on the team but on the bench. They face a tough rival in Leopard and they know it, but they certainly believe they can win the match if they show the same football and spirit seen against Buffaloes, while also taking motivation from their Charity Cup success. What will make it even tougher for Highlanders, is that Leopard have a game in hand and know that a win here will boost their chances of taking the summit which they can cement with another win against Buffaloes. It’s a tough clash to predict but one that promises to be a thriller.
