MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows captain marvel Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze has proven that while he grows old, he is maturing like good red wine in a cask.

The 34-year-old is currently the best player in the country having been awarded the MTN Player of the Month award for August. Tsabedze’s performance has caused an outcry from the country’s football fans over his snub by the faltering national team, Sihlangu Semnikati. Tsabedze had scored four goals in their four wins in the MTN Premier League that earned him the E6 000 cheque and trophy for being the best in August. He scored in the 4-0 win over Manzini Wanderers in the grand opening and netted each goal against Denver Sundowns, Tambuti and Mhlume Peacemakers, totaling to four goals.

Tsabedze was awarded yesterday by Eswatini MTN Meshack Maseko and PLE Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati at the Sigwaca House. He was presented with Tambankulu Callies striker Sandziso Masuku, who received E2 000 for being the MTN First Division best player in August. He had scored three goals in five outings and his side is at the top of the table in the first division. Tsabedze said his teammates deserved the award too as they were playing as a team. He said their dream was to return to the CAF Championships League and they would have to do that by winning the league. Swallows, who face MTN Premier Legaue defending champions, Green Mamba tonight, are top of the table with 12 points after four matches.
