MBABANE – Professional lady golfer Nobuhle Dlamini was among the best during the European Ladies Tour event styled Lacoste Ladies Open de France.

The local golfer based in South Africa finished 12th in the Lacoste Ladies Open de France in Paris on Sunday for her first Ladies European Tour title in three years. She earned 6 500 Euros which is equivalent to about E106 000. Dlamini finished with a total of one-under-par to finish 12th and outclassed the over 60 golfers who took part in the tournament. The tournament was played for four days in France. This was Dlamini’s sixth appearance in the Ladies European Tour since the year began, with this being her best finish.

Her last appearance in the tour was the Czech Ladies Open played in the Czech Republic last month where she did not make the cut.  Dlamini, who is the number one lady golfer in the country, will be back in action on Sunday during the Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open billed for Spain from Saturday. Meanwhile, Dlamini’s current performance in golf was recognised by His Majesty King Mswati III during the King’s Cup held at Royal Swazi a fortnight ago. The King said it was pleasing to note that Dlamini was now rubbing shoulders with the big guns in international tournaments after being groomed by her late father Johannes Dlamini.

Dlamini had a remarkable 2019 after a dominant display in the Sunshine Ladies Tour (SLT). SLT is a series of tournaments, where millions of Emalangeni are up for grabs. They are played mainly in South Africa.  The Lobamba-born golfer, who turned professional in 2014, celebrated a rare treble in the Sunshine Tour after winning the Dimension Data Challenge and the Johannesburg Open in South Africa, as well as the Investec Open at home between February and May. Efforts to get a comment from Dlamini were fruitless by late yesterday.
