MBABANE – The country’s CAF Confederation Cup envoys, Young Buffaloes, will play catch-up when they return to MTN Premier League action at Somhlolo National Stadium tonight.

With three games in hand, Dominic Kunene’s troops need maximum points to keep the leading pack in sight. They are currently on an unfamiliar position 10, with the three points they have collected in the only league game they have played so far. They last tasted ‘Y’ello’ action back on August 17, 2019 when they thrashed listless Milling Hot Spurs by 4-0. With a tight schedule, their mental strength will be put to the test. Five of their stars are fresh from the national team while there is also a CAF return match against Wits in South Africa on Friday.

Doubtful

Lanky defender Siboniso Mamba and grafter Siboniso ‘Gaxa’ Ngwenya are doubtful after picking up injuries on national duty. However, they still boast depth to do the required job.
Standing in the way of the security forces ensemble are stuttering Malanti Chiefs, who have only one win in four outings. The latter are like a sacrificial lamb, as their record against tonight’s opponents does not make for reverting reading. Six of the seven meetings have ended in defeat for the Pigg’s Peak-based ensemble. Their best recent result against Buffaloes was a 1-all draw last season.

It seems the Raymond Dlamini-led outfit are taking forever to get off the mark despite assembling a formidable-looking side. Marksman Charles Molopo is back from South Africa, but he is still to pass a late fitness test before tonight’s showdown. Malanti may be the fresher of the two sides, but they will need to dig deeper into their reserves of courage to shoot down Buffaloes.
A win can steer 12th-placed Malanti Chiefs off the bottom four.
