MANZINI – Djibouti coach Julien Mette is adamant his team is in the country for nothing but a win.

The coach said it was important for Djibouti to make it to the group stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers for the first time in history, with history beckoning for both countries, Djibouti and Eswatini solely depend on the 90 minutes to be played this afternoon.

The two sides will clash today at Mavuso Sports Centre, kick-off 3pm, with the visitors enjoying a 2-1 lead from the first leg. The French coach said their focus was on winning the game rather than defending their lead.

“It is my first time coming to Eswatini and the reception so far has been marvelous. We will try to score goals to win the match and get in the history books of Djibouti. We have been training at least four or five times a week since May and this is a young squad with an average age of 23 years, which makes it important that they achieve this dream,” he said.

Meanwhile, Djibouti captain Wais Daccd said the spirit in the team was high and they were looking forward to a victory and finishing off what they started back home.

“We are like a new-born baby and we are growing fast. We are confident that we are going to win the match and make it through to the group stages to make our people back home happy,” he said.

Djibouti is ranked 195 while Sihlangu stood at 139. Sihlangu will be without captain Felix Badenhorst while Justice Figuareido, who is recovering from an injury, is set to play in the match.
