MBABANE – The Eswatini Football Coaches’ Association will take serious disciplinary measures against expatriate coaches who shun their activities.
This transpired on Sunday at Sigwaca House during the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). Delivering his report, the Secretary General Musa Mamba said most foreign coaches still failed to join the members’ activities.

However, he commended the few who showed interest and encouraged them to continue doing so.
“Our expatriate friends in the profession are still failing to mix with emaSwati in whatever we do; this indicates that they are not part of us. In future the membership will need to take a dire decision,” he said.

Registration

He added that it pained them to note that most members were members by registration, in reality they were not members.
“This is mostly seen in our expatriate colleagues, some of them don’t even know the executive committee and they don’t care,” he said.
According to the secretary, they do not have a stable membership as some coaches become members when forced by circumstances.

He said some senior members do not subscribe deliberately, and therefore informed members that if a member defaults, when he comes back he will have to settle his arrears.

“We wish to acknowledge that the Eswatini coaches have indeed grown up, as all trophies that were at stake have been won by emaswati. We are pleased to say most coaches, especially premier league coaches have adhered to proper dress code this past season. Coaches in the first division are still struggling to adhere to the dressing standards, but we hope they will improve,” he said.

Mamba also highlighted that they still failed to keep official books and still had coaches who were coaching at the highest level without a coaching licence.
He said coaches are still failing to subscribe on time, other coaches needed to be reminded to pay their subscription, while others pass unpalatable remarks when reminded.

Meanwhile,  A total of E7 050 was recorded as the closing balance for the coaches’ association financial statement of the past season.
The amount was disclosed by Treasurer Dominic Kunene when delivering the financial statement to members’ AGM on Sunday.

According to the Young Buffaloes coach, the total income for the past financial year stood at E72 260 and total expenditure of the association stood at E65 210.
Despite eventually adopting the financial statement, members decried a shoddy job and highlighted that the statement was too vague as it was a summary and not detailed.

Penuel Malinga asked the treasurer if there was no way through which the bank charges, which were indicated to cost E2 500, could be minimised through the use of new technological inventions. He made an example of using the Automated Teller Machine instead of getting inside the bank and fill-in forms to make a transaction.

This, the executive promised to improve. Manzini Sea Birds’ Sibusiso Mngometulu asked that the bank charges be detailed as the executive knew of each transaction made. Malinga further raised concern of E10 600 allowances not being detailed which the Chairman Anthony Mdluli said was a learning curve and will be addressed in the near future. Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati was concerned with the expenses of their symposium with the PLE as he wanted clarity on who catered for the expenses.

The association received E30 000 grant from EFA plus subscriptions totalling E14 000. Expenditure included workshops, clinics, meetings and other administrative issues.

Meanwhile, Vilakati offered to donate cards for the association which will be branded for coaches to have licences and pay a minimal fee
