MBABANE – Former national team, Sihlangu forward Dennis ‘Yuki’ Masina believes that Kostadin Papic is the right man for the team.

He said Papic was a coach that wanted players to play football and enjoy it with positive results. He said he could see the improvement from the team since his arrival in January and he could do wonders with the squad if given the chance. Masina, who is a former Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United player, is now the assistant coach to another liSwati in Siyabonga Bhembe at Mbombela United, who play in the GladAfrica Championships (formerly National First Division League). “He is a good coach and I think he can achieve something with the national team. I worked with him while I was a player and I know what he wants. He wants players to play football not long balls that kind of football,” he said.

Masina said Papic was also lucky because he had the quality of players that can deliver under him including the likes of both Sihlangu and Mbombela United captain Felix Badenhorst. He said all the current players wanted to play and enjoy football. The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has already extended the contract with the Serbian coach. Meanwhile, Masina warned Sihlangu against undermining Djibouti ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. He said despite the 6-1 aggregate with them a couple of years ago, football changes a lot in a short space of time.

“The players must go to the game hungry for victory and not at any time should they undermine their opponents. It’s unfortunate that there are no available videos to watch and analyze Djibouti. The players must also make sure that they do not concede and be positive because there is the second leg game here at home something that will also work as an advantage,” he said. Sihlangu left the country on Sunday for Djibouti where they will play the first leg on Wednesday evening, 5pm local time.
