MBABANE – He has been ‘unveiled’ by Mbabane Swallows but he is training with Manzini Wanderers.

That is the story of Leon Manyisa who is set to renew rivalry between the two sides ahead of the EswatiniTelecom Charity Cup on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium.

Swallows announced the signing of the player last Monday during a press conference held at Hilton Garden Inn in Mbabane.
Manyisa, who has not reported for training since he was unveiled together with South Africa-born player in former Mbabane Highlanders grafter Vusimuzi Zungu and erstwhile Matsapha United striker Siphamandla Dlamini, featured for Wanderers in a series of friendly games played over the weekend.

confirmed

An impeccable source close to the matter confirmed yesterday that Manyisa and Mandla Palma, who was given 24 hours to report back to Swallows last Monday, are with the team at training camp in Big Bend where the team is preparing for the Charity Cup. The source alleged the player was eager to sign with the maroon and white outfit.

“The player made it clear since the end of the season that he wanted to sign for Manzini Wanderers, where his heart is. He was delayed from signing for the maroon and white outfit by the failed trip where he was due to go for trials in Armenia,” alleged the source.

unfortunate

The source added that it was unfortunate because Swallows had already reached a deal with Vovovo Chairman Sipho ‘Tsetla’ Bhembe over the player.
“Wanderers are hoping to conclude a deal in the next 48 hours,” alleged another impeccable source.

Swallows Communications and Marketing Manager Mancoba Mabuza insisted the player had a contract with the team and he was their player.
“If there are any changes we will duly inform our stakeholders. We have been patient with the player since he was sorting out some personal issues and that is why he has not been seen at training with the rest of our players,” he said.

Mabuza said Palma was their player and he had not reported back to work to carry out his duties as an employee of the club.

approached

He conceded that there was no team that had approached them over Palma.
“Our stakeholders, including supporters, know very well that at Swallows we have a very powerful team and even if they don’t see Manyisa on Sunday and beyond, we have many equally capable players ready to win trophies, starting with defending the Charity Cup on Sunday,” he added.

Manzini Wanderers Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini said he could not comment on the matter as he was not part of the team at training.
Vovovo Director ‘Tsetla’ Bhembe could not be reached for comment, as his phone rang unaswered yesterday.
