Nomvula 53rd, Tenanile 58th, Phumzile 62nd  MBABANE – They are off to a dream start. Eswatini women national team Sitsebe Samhlekazi hoisted the kingdom’s flag high in their opening game against Mozambique when they celebrated a 3-1 comeback win yesterday.

This was during the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA)  Group C opening at Wolfson Stadium in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Sitsebe was drawn into group C alongside Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Angola. They only are currently placed second in their group log which is led by Zimbabwe on goal difference. The latter made light work of Angola with a 4-1 win in their opener. In third and fourth place are Mozambique and Angola, respectively.

Despite an early scare, Anthony Mdluli’s troops rallied to grind the big win on the road on resumption of play. Lucia had put Mozambique in front in the third minute but three goals in nine second-half minutes swung the fixture in favour of Eswatini.

Nomvula Sanga, Tenanile Ngcamphalala and Phumzile Dlamini all netted for the country’s side in what was a superb second period for the side.

Having missed the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Tournament last year, Sitsebe returned to COSAFA on a high note and showcased improvement in terms of ball skills, defence and control when they managed to score three goals in the second half against the Mozambican side. FIFA rankings show that Eswatini is at position 151, with 804 points, while Mozambique is placed at 150, with 823.
