LOBAMBA – National team Sihlangu coach Kostadin Papic has laid his head on the chopping block ahead of the second leg match against Angola in the Africa Nations Cup (CHAN) Qualifiers.

The Serbian coach, who has played six official matches - losing one and playing five draws, said they were going to Angola for a win and no other result would be accepted.

Papic said despite failing to win here at home last Sunday after the 1-all draw, they were going to surprise the Angolans as they will be attacking with confidence after failing to convert numerous scoring chances in the first leg.
“We are going to Angola for a win, not other results. It will happen. We were a little bit disappointed with the results on Sunday having failed to score clear-cut chances but we have worked on that.

“We are going to take them by surprise as we will be attacking. I am happy that we have improved a lot at the back and we are defending well. The only work to do is to score the goals and we are working on that with the strikers,” he said.

meaningless

The former South Africa’s Orlando Pirates gaffer said a draw would be meaningless. He added that changes must be expected in the first team in Angola.
He said he could not judge goalkeeper Sandanezwe Mathabela, who conceded an easy goal on Sunday with one match and mistake.
“This tournament is for local players only and I’m happy that some of the youngsters have come up and played a crucial role in the team. We may be in the disadvantage as some leagues are more competitive than ours but we have the players who have the potential of reaching greater heights with the team,” he said.

improve

Papic said he wanted to improve the team rankings and it is work in progress. Sihlangu are ranked 139th in the world. Sihlangu will leave the country this morning by road for Johannesburg, South Africa where they will connect a flight to Luanda, Angola. The game is scheduled for Saturday, starting at 4pm, (Angola time) and 5pm here at home. Papic travelled with 20 players from the 27 that have spent five weeks in training camp.
