MBABANE – After several weeks of turmoil, Mbabane Swallows are now under control, so to speak.

More-so, as former secretary to the Board of Directors Bongani ‘Under Control’ Mamba and the club’s long-serving General Manager (GM), Sandile ‘Beyond 2 000’ Zwane have returned to the ‘Birds’ nest. The latter has returned  as the team’s Chief Operations Manager (COO).

Mbabane Swallows has appointed an interim Management Committee (MC) and board in a quest to bring things into perspective following the resignation of the former MC en-masse.

Allegations

The MC that was led by the club’s legend, Lloyd ‘Magic Feet’ Maziya, resigned after a series of allegations pertaining to inappropriate use of the club’s funds earned from the sale of players. The unsubstantiated reports were carried by one of the local daily publications last month.

The new management structure replaces the Management Committee headed by Khaya Vilakati, which was barely three weeks in charge. Vilakati has since been moved to the position of Logistics Manager. In an effort to rebuild the club ahead of the new season, Swallows Elders President Absalom Ngwenya, made this announcement yesterday at Prince of Wales, just before the red and white ensemble started their afternoon training.

It transpired that ‘Under Control’ Mamba will be the Chairman of the Interim Management Board and would work hand-in-hand with Phindile Ndlangamandla and Bongani Dlamini.

Mancoba Mabuza assumed the role of the Communications and Marketing Manager in place of former Public Relations Officer (PRO), Jackson Dlamini. Retired Eswatini international player, who is also Jomo Cosmos Football Club assistant coach, Siza Dlamini, will  beef up the technical bench alongside head coach Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe and his right hand man Musa Manyatsi.

Banele Cindzi also made a comeback as a welfare and kit manager, while the Elections and Boundaries Commission’s Head of Secretariat Richard Phungwayo was elected as the Treasurer. Completing the list of the MC members was the club’s Logistics Manager Khaya Vilakati. Making his remarks during the interim board and management committee unveiling, Ngwenya urged all the appointed members to work in unity for the benefit and progress of the club. He further emphasised that Princess Lungile was still the club’s director.

Duties

“Let us be committed in our duties and put the team first. Truthfulness and working together as a team for the benefit of the club is required from all of us here.
It is important to unite and prevail above all the previous challenges that we encountered previously. The interim board and Management committee are arrangements reclaiming order, peace and progress,” said Ngwenya. He further clarified that the final decision on the club’s administration would be announced after their annual general meeting.
