MBABANE – Where was he?

This is the question a lot of people asked themselves as hub giants Manzini Wanderers, which have allegedly been characterised by squabbles, had the team’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mduduzi ‘Mr G’ Ginindza absent at the Eswatini Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC) Charity Cup roadshow held at the Ezulwini Corner Plaza on Sunday.
Instead, the team head coach, Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati, spoke on behalf of Wanderers. Sources close to the matter have alleged that ‘Mr G’ was expecting to be informed and invited by the senior team Management Committee (MC) officials to speak on behalf of the hub giants but was snubbed due to internal conflicts.

When sought for comment over the matter, Ginindza confirmed that all was not well at the maroon and white outfit as there were internal squabbles. “Kona lobugudlugudlu bukhona,” loosely translated as; “There are challenges and squabbles at the team and that we cannot deny.” Asked on why he did not show up for the roadshow as he was expected to speak on behalf of Wanderers as their spokesperson, ‘Mr G’ said he was also puzzled why he was not invited to the occasion. He alleged he received information that senior officials of the team had called him and invited him for the roadshow but when he returned the call with another official of the team, the officials would not pick up and that, he said made it clear that he was sidelined.

However, the spokesperson made it clear that he was in good terms with the on-and-off club Director Mehluli Nhlengetfwa, who asked the interim committee to hold the reins until the election of full time committee. Ginindza also disclosed that he had discovered that most top officials of the team had a phobia for the media yet it was an essential communication vehicle for their information dissemination. “I questioned why they did not like the media as I failed to understand and it did not go down well with them but the director is yet to learn about the challenges as we are yet to report to him,” he said.

Also sought for comment was Wanderers’ Finance Manager Sabelo Nxumalo, who said he did not know anything about the absence of the PRO from the roadshow as he was attending a memorial service and a funeral. “I will find out on what transpired at the roadshow,” he said briefly.
