EZULWINI – Mbabane Highlanders is a dream home to many elite league players. This came into light yesterday at the Ezulwini Casino Sports Ground where the capital city giants were conducting trials for players’ recruitment ahead on the 2019/20 season.

Players from top teams in the premier league were spotted at the trials where they had gone to try their luck to join the black and white outfit.
The players and the teams from which they came will deliberately not be named for ethical reasons due to the fact that it might jeopardize the players’ relationships with their current teams.

The trials were mainly administered by Highlanders’ Technical Director (TD) Zenzele ‘Ace’ Dlamini and Administration Coach Trevor Shongwe carried out the paperwork.

Present during the trials was the team’s Director in South African businessman and politician Ally Kgomongwe and some members of the National Supporters’ Committee (NSC)

Bhekisasa Dlamini who has joined the team’s Management Committee (MC) as a member was also present to monitor the trials.
Some of the top elite league teams’ players which comprise import players were seen leaving the field dejected after failure to make it to the ‘new’ look Highlanders team.

Also joining the team’s trials were newly signed foreign players who were reported to have attended the director’s welcome party on Saturday at Mbabane Central. A number of the team supporters also attended to witness the trials with keenness to see new players of the team for the upcoming season to start next month.

Meanwhile, young ambitious players also joined the trials and the lucky ones were selected to join the Under-20s development side.

South Africa’s duo of striker Thabiso Mokenkoane and midfielder Vusumuzi Zungu were not part of the ‘black bull’ team at the trials as they are reportedly in their native country for trials with different teams. Mokenkoane had been reportedly invited by ABSA Premiership side Black Leopards for trials while Zungu is trying his luck with National First Division (NFD) outfit Mbombela United.

The team will release the full list of the players who passed the trials early this week as they will officially inform their previous teams before the end of business today.
