EZULWINI – There is a move to stop teams from loaning out an unlimited number of players to teams.

This is a recommendation of the Mashumi Shongwe-led task team that looked into the alleged unfair advantage of the security forces sides over the other football sides.

The committee presented its findings and recommendations to the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Governors during a retreat at Happy Valley Hotel in Ezulwini yesterday.

Impeccable sources said one of the recommendations was that each team should be allowed to loan out a maximum of nine players. The rest, who are not registered, should be cleared for free.

“It was further recommended that each team should not get more than three players from each security forces side on loan to avoid parading a depleted side,” alleged impeccable sources.

The issue of players, especially those from armed forces, who are not allowed to face their parent clubs, was debated at length during the retreat.
The task team reportedly found that there was no proof that that the forces teams stopped players from playing against them, but instead it was allegedly the sides who ‘borrowed’ the players that asked for such an arrangement.

The report of the task team was only presented to the governors and not released to the media. In a press briefing at the hotel after the retreat, the PLE chairman (Magagula) who was joined by Executive Committee member Sicelo Mkhonta and CEO Simanga Nhleko, said the report would not be released to the public pending the finalisation of the internal processes.

Magagula said the report would be released after his office’s General Assembly, which is set for August 4.
