MBABANE – His ultimate goal is to compete in the World Championships. Eswatini bodybuilder and fitness coach Arnaldo Barbosa is competing in the seventh edition of the Battle of The Titans Bodybuilding Competition in Cape Town at Durbanville auditorium.

Barbosa left the kingdom early Thursday morning for OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, where he will connect a plane to Cape Town.
He will be competing in the Under-65kg senior men category and he has promised to hoist the kingdom of Eswatini flag high. His current weight is 62kg. The athlete said this competition was a gateway to the annual World Championships, which are considered as the largest and most prestigious natural bodybuilding and fitness competition.

“What made me take to the stage in this competition is that I have a goal to achieve on August 24 and that is to qualify for the World Championships. This show will help me realise what I need to work on and improve in order to compete in the next competition. I need to stay focused and move one step closer to my ultimate goal,” said Barbosa.

This competition comes only two weeks before the seventh edition of the Barbosa Classic Fitness and Wellness Festival that is scheduled for House on Fire in Malkerns. It is proudly hosted by Barbosa.

South Africa’s renowned heavyweight champion Bulelani ‘The Gifted Champ’ Jola, who will attend the Barbosa Classic stage as a guest, will also be competing in The Battle of the Titans. Eswatini bodybuilders’ family bode farewell to Barbosa ahead of the competition and wished him the best of luck on the international stage.

“We wish him the best and hope he brings silverware back home. I personally know how challenging it is to compete outside the country. The final stage preparations are crucial and I am sure that he has got the experience to use it to his advantage,” said International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) card holder Tony Dlamini.

Dlamini, who is also hard at work in preparation to compete in Angola African Championships in August, further wished all Barbosa Classic contestants, the best of luck.
