MADONSA – After being inactive last season, Madonsa youth will be able to showcase their football talent for the next five years.

This comes after Mashayinkonjane Meat Butchery splashed a whopping E100 000 to sponsor Madonsa Zonal League from 2019/20 season until the 2023/24 season.

Sifiso Nhlengetfwa, who is the Managing Director (MD) of Mashayinkonjane Meat Butchery and Bucopho (Chiefdom Councillor) of Madonsa, said each of the five seasons would be sponsored with E20 000.

He said the zonal league was last active during the 2017/18 season and that was when the sponsorship of Inyatsi Construction ended.
The youthful businessman said following the fact that the youth of the area was not active in football last season (2018/19), the teams approached him for a sponsorship. “I could not throw away the opportunity to play a role in my community, especially assisting the youth, so I gladly offered to sponsor them,” Nhlengetfwa said.

He added that by supporting the youth, he knew that he was assisting them in building a bright future. He said this was because when they play football, they would be busy and have no time to be swallowed by social ills like drugs and crime.

He said since prize money does not help the teams most of the time, he decided that most of the prizes would be in form of soccer kits, boots and balls.
On another note, Nhlengetfwa said as a company, they were happy to sponsor the league, which would be between 12 and 14 teams, because they were giving back to the community that supports them.

He said they believed that if the community where they did their business benefits from their social responsibility programmes, they would support their business even more.

It is worth noting that Mashayinkonjane is currently competing for the Entrepreneurship of the Year Award after the company was crowned as the winner for Manzini Region.
The launch was preceded by a friendly match between Mashayinkonjane Social Team and Eswatini Broadcasting and  Information Services (EBIS), which ended in a 3-all draw.
