CONQUERING THE WORLD THROUGH PARKRUN

MBABANE – They are on a mission to partake in every Parkrun in the world.
These are four South Africans women who yesterday made a stop at the Mbabane Parkrun. The Parkrun tourists participated in the 110th run, which attracted 80 runners. The race started and finished at Mbabane Club yesterday.


Their names are Blondie Mokgata, Vuyiswa Jack-Pama, Nomahlubi Simamane and Baby Tyawa and they are all based in Johannesburg.They disclosed that they were over 60 but their ages were not a deterrent from exercising.
Interviewed randomly after completing the 5km timed race, Blondie Mokgata said their mission was to partake in every Parkrun in the world.

“For us it’s not about competing but exploring the world through Parkrun. We have done almost every Parkrun in all the provinces in South Africa. We felt that we should do Parkruns outside our borders and Eswatini is the nearest,” Mokgata said.


Vuyiswa said their next stop was Botswana and they were looking to do the United Kingdom-based parkrun thereafter.
The 110th edition was won by Mduduzi Dlamini, who clocked 16:51 minutes. Coming second was Sibusiso Shabangu with a time of 17:02 minutes. Wandile Dludlu completed the list of the top three winners with a time of 17:55 minutes.


In the ladies categories, Simphiwe Gama came first in a time of 23:33 minutes while Thobile Shabangu came second. The latter clocked 28:26 minutes with Sebenzile Zwane finishing third in a time of 38:46 minutes.
