‘BUFFS’, MAMBA REGISTRATION DEADLINE

MBABANE – The country’s CAF inter-club tournaments envoys Young Buffaloes and Green Mamba have the next 16 days to register players for the continental assignments.

Green Mamba are MTN Premier League champions and have a ticket to the CAF Champions League while Young Buffaloes are eligible to feature in the second-tier tournament styled Confederation Cup after winning the EswatiniBank Cup. According to a correspondence from the Eswatini’s soccer mother body, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) stated that on Sunday, June 30, 2019 would be the deadline for the interclub competitions registration for the 2019/20 football season.

“This registration is done through the Competition Management System (CMS) of CAF. It was opened on Monday, June 3, 2019,” read the statement.
Before they can register, the teams must have Under-20 and Under-17 youth teams. They must also have ownership or lease agreement of stadiums (match venues) and training facilities to be used during the season.

Other requirements are administrative and they include having an office with a full-time administrator as well audited financial statements for the 2018/19 campaign.

“These documents are submitted to CAF during the registration process.
“Also, all the local football clubs are expected to facilitate these documents with their licence application to the EFA offices in order for them to be able to register their players for the domestic competitions,” further read the correspondence.
Buffaloes CEO Sandile Gwebu assured that the team would meet the deadline, as the requirements were still the same from the past years.
“We just have to finalise the audited financial statement. We’re yet to decide if we will add new players,” he said.
No comment could be sourced from Green Mamba, as CEO Thami Phakathi’s phone rang unanswered.
Following a decision of the CAF Executive Committee on July 20, 2017, the 2019/20 campaign of the inter-club tournaments will start on August 9.  This is exactly 56 days from today. The draw is expected to be conducted next month.
