NTONDOZI – Another Charity Cup Tournament project done and dusted. Eswatini Post and Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC) yesterday handed over another structure to the Ntondozi community of Mphini, under Chief Prince Bhekokwakhe.

The project was one among many that were funded by the EPTC, through the Eswatini Charity Cup Soccer Tournament in collaboration with the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) and SOS Children’s Village charity organisation.

The Eswatini Charity Cup is an initiative that generates funds geared towards assisting the less privileged in all communities around the country. The Charity Cup Trust Fund has so far distributed over E14 million since the inception of the initiative over the past 17 years. EPTC uses this national event, which is expected to commence in July, in partnership with the football fraternity to alleviate poverty, mitigate the effects of HIV and AIDS, create jobs, promote entrepreneurship and contribute in social development and education.

EFA Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati, speaking on behalf of EFA President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa, thanked EPTC and SOS for a job well done in improving the lives of the people of Mphini. Vilakati, who is also a resident of KaNdinda, said the Ntondozi Constituency was indeed blessed to receive two structures funded by the Charity Cup Trust Fund in a space of two weeks.

pleased

“Eswatini Football Association is pleased to have partnered with Eswatini Telecom in caring for the needy and contribute in socio-economic development. I would like to thank football supporters and fans because without them, these projects would not be possible. I would also like to invite the nation to watch soccer games because it is through the ticket sales that EPTC changes lives,” said Vilakati.

According to Charity Cup Project Manager, Nqobile Magagula, the construction of the structure, which consists of an office, soup kitchen and large open room, cost E112 000. Beneficiaries of the social innovative centre include community women who will utilise it for their entrepreneurship projects and pupils from surrounding schools.
