MBABANE – True to its mandate of not leaving anyone behind, the World Vision-led National Campaign called, ‘It Takes Eswatini to End Sexual Violence against Children’ has taken to the field of play.

This has been through the campaign partnership with Bible Society who are hosting the soccer tournament on Saturday at Mavuso Sports Centre. According to the Campaign Manager, Nontobeko Mbuyane, this campaign serves to totally eradicate sexual violence against children in Eswatini and therefore its strength lies in partnerships and ensuring that each and every sector plays its role and seriously so.

perpetrators

“One should understand that beyond being soccer players, these players are brothers, fathers, uncles community members and even worse, can fall into being perpetrators themselves if not fully educated and involved in such issues thus the need to ensure that they are committed to the campaign. And again football is a sport that packs people in numbers. It is through this mileage that we can ideally position the campaign to effectively educate and inform these masses about child protection issues,” she said.

Mbuyane said Bible Society and World Vision’s partnership was not new but grew each time and she said they felt that once again, they should come on board and join them as they again this year hold the tournament.

entertainment

“On this day, soccer lovers should expect a lot of entertainment and education as well. There will be information stalls and desks where people will be educated about sexual violence and also how it can be reported and all the toll –free numbers to call. There will also be so many prizes to be won and selfie opportunities with, It Takes Eswatini Mascot, who will be there,” she added.

Mbuyane encouraged all soccer lovers to attend the family fun-filled and educational day.
She further urged all teams to partner with the campaign and also take leaf from the four who already have their players as child protection advocates. This is a nation exercise which seeks to benefit the nation at large.
