MBABANE – He somehow has been Mbabane Highlanders’ supporters’ favourite.

Like the club’s late manager Mthofi Khumalo, the club’s former PRO and CEO Celucolo ‘Dino’ Dlamini has been one of the club’s officials who won the team’s supporters whenever he was called up for duty. However, his last shot as the team’s official was during the term of local businessman and team legend Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane about two seasons ago. “He’s back with the club as we try to rebuild under new directorship,” confirmed one of the team’s interim officials on condition of anonymity when questioned about the latest.

Highlanders have put in place an interim management committee led by former national team Sihlangu coach, Josiah ‘Digger’ Dlamini, last Saturday at a meeting held at Lobamba National High School. Over 200 supporters elected the interim MC as new South African director Ally Kgomongwe said he was about democracy and did not have much knowledge of the team’s people. The club’s Head of Communications and Secretariat, Gcina Dlamini, was called and questioned about this news. “We’re currently preparing for the Bible Society Cup and doing all we can to ensure the team is back to its stability,” Dlamini diplomatically responded. When pressed to be specific on Dlamini’s return and what his position would be, he insisted on not getting to finer details for now without denying the latter’s presence in their structures. Dlamini was then sought but said he was in a meeting and would respond a few minutes later. However, efforts to reach him were futile as his cellphone rang unanswered.
