MBABANE – His resignation is a big blow to Manzini Wanderers, if reports of splashing the cash during his tenure are anything to go by.

That is South Africa-based businessman and Wanderers Managing Director Mehluli Nhlengetfwa, who is said to have recently jumped ship at the maroon and white outfit after only seven months in charge.

Between October last year and last week, he had allegedly spent about E1.75 million.

The period is equivalent to seven months.
According to impeccable sources, who are also close to the businessman, Nhlengetfwa was reportedly spending approximately E250 000 per month, which is equivalent to E1.75 million in seven months.

A lion’s share of the bill (E160 000), it was reliably gathered, was for paying the senior team’s players.

expenses

Other expenses were administrative costs that include running the clubhouse and office in Manzini.
Rent for the clubhouse is said to over E5 500. The office is complete with a Wi-Fi connection.  The ladies and junior teams were also under Nhlengetfwa’s care.

“Salaries and wages for the technical team were between E30 000 and E40 000.
“The money spent can shoot up to E2 million if we can include signing-on fees,” alleged the impeccable source.

dragged

Nhlengetfwa expectedly, was reluctant to be dragged for comment on the figures, questioning the rationale of reporting about them in the first place.
“I do not have figures in front of me,” he said.
Wanderers PRO, Mduduzi ‘Mr G’ Ginindza, who has just reunited with the maroon and white outfit, referred comments to Sabelo Nxumalo.
The latter works closely with Nhlengetfwa. Nxumalo politely asked not to be dragged into the issue pending a lined-up meeting today.

Following the confusion caused by the abrupt exit of Nhlengetfwa before the end of his three-year term, this publication learnt that there was a meeting today involving the structures to find a way forward ahead of this coming Saturday’s Bible Society Cup. Some within Wanderers structures are alleged to be trying to convince Nhlengetfwa to change his mind.

Meanwhile, the ‘big three’ of Mbabane Highlanders, Mbabane Swallows and Wanderers reportedly operate on a budget of about E3 million per season.
This publication last week reported that Highlanders spent the same amount during the recently-ended 2018-2019 campaign.
