MANZINI – A true friend of sport. Barely a month after pumping E140 000 into tennis, Swaziland Building Society (SBS) has now given out a whopping and revised E175 000 to the Eswatini National Netball Association (ENNA).

The latest injection was made before guests led by Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga at Mavuso Sports Emporium in Manzini during the Netball League  grand opening yesterday.
This is an increment of E75 000 from last year’s package of E100 000.

In essence, the financial institution has pumped in E315 000 into the two sporting codes in just one month.
SBS Managing Director Timothy Nhleko made the presentation yesterday before excited guests from the National Olympic Committee, Eswatini Sports and Recreation Council and the netball executive.

bank attracted to netball

In his remarks during the ceremony, Nhleko thanked the minister for showing commitment to all sports by gracing the event despite his tight schedule.  The minister was fresh from the USA.
“We believe that ENNA has a potential of going forward. We are happy to work with dedicated people and it is evident that the number of teams has grown,” said Nhleko.

Nhleko further said the bank was attracted to netball, regardless of it being considered a less dominant sport, because of the desire to give back to the community and contribute to the future of the youth.

“This is our way of saying thank you to the nation, which has supported us all along and we hope that our partnership continues,” added Nhleko, who further commended the executive members of ENNA for their dedication in developing the sport.

“We thank Building Society for not simply being sponsors but going above that to being true partners of Eswatini sports. May I thank you Mr Managing Director and your team for your relentless efforts to developing Eswatini sports. We appreciate your sincere effort in making sports, particularly netball, fashionable in Eswatini,” said the minister.

Meanwhile, ENNA President Simangele Motsa pledged the association’s loyalty to their main sponsor and assured proper management of the sponsorship. She however highlighted some of the challenges that they faced as the netball fraternity and pleaded for the minister’s assistance.

The issue of outdoor courts proved to be a huge challenge for players considering that there was a shortage of indoor courts, which is the standard requirement.
