21 GFC ATHLETES FOR SA COMRADES MARATHON

MBABANE – About 21 Golden Foot Athletics Club (GFC) athletes will be part of the 25 000 that is expected to compete in the South Africa’s Comrades Marathon billed for Sunday in Durban, South Africa.

The team was bid farewell on Saturday at Ezulwini by the club’s Chairperson Tokky Hou who is not among the athletes to compete in the marathon. The race will start at 5:30am and ending at 5:30pm and the race is run from gun to gun. It will start at the City Hall, Durban and finishing at the Scottsville Racecourse in Pietermaritzburg. The race distance is approximately 87km.

Farewell

Hou confirmed yesterday that they bid farewell to their members who all promised one goal to finish the race and hoist the country’s flag high. “We are happy that again this year we will be represented by a quite big number of athletes who are all ready to conquer in the Durban. It is not an easy race but the experience in the team will come in handy,” she said. GFC Club is one of the biggest clubs in the country boosting of over 1 000 athletes countrywide and they now have branches in Manzini, Matsapha, Mbabane and Ezulwini. They are not only focusing on professional competitions but run for fun and healthy benefits.
