MBABANE – At least one trophy for Mbabane Highlanders in 2019/20 MTN Premier League season!
This is the goal of new Director Ally Kgomongwe for the capital city giants.

The South African businessman and politician, who is based in the capital city of the country, Pretoria, signed a five-year contract with the ‘black bull’ at Southern Sun Hotel in Pretoria on Monday.
This was in the presence of the team’s Chairman of Patrons Isaac Shabangu, Secretary Lucky Mahlalela and member Benson Dlamini.
Asked what he wanted to accomplish for Highlanders yesterday, Kgomongwe said he would do everything in his powers to assist the team get at least one trophy next season.

dedication

“Impossibility can be possibilities through hard work and dedication. Remember that your starting is not easy but finishing is very easy,” said the businessman.
However, the politician preferred to hold back on revealing on his investment plans to the team and his total net worth.
“I prefer not to comment,” he said.

Kgomongwe politely asked not to disclose the worth of his assets to the public and said he was ready to provide any information pertaining to his taking over at the capital city giants.
The businessman said he felt that disclosing his worth of personal assets on the media was unethical.

salaries

Asked if he was aware that his first assignment would be to pay the team players’ salaries for this month, Kgomongwe also preferred to reserve his comments on the subject matter.
Highlanders have had a drought spell for the past few years in winning a trophy in all competitions and their last setback was when they failed to win the 2019 Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF)-sponsored Ingwenyama Cup knockout tournament, losing 4-1 to the eventual champions Young Buffaloes, who also won the 16th edition of the EswatiniBank Cup.

In this season, Highlanders were the runners-up of both the Charity Cup and Ingwenyama Cup.
They were booted out by Matsapha United in the last 16 of the EswatiniBank Cup and were placed fifth at the end of the 2018/19 MTN Premier League season.
For their performance, they managed to accumulate over E1, 1 million, being the fourth highest earners of this season.

Despite this, the team had been reportedly operating under deficit in the past season with players occasionally not getting their salaries under the leadership of the ‘old’ directorship led by lawyer Zweli Jele.
