MBABANE – Sihlangu have the chance to bury the game first on home soil. The national team will play host at the Mavuso Sports Centre when they welcome Angola for the first leg of the second round of the 2020 African Nations Championships (CHAN) Qualifiers. Sihlangu brushed aside Malawi on a 1-1 aggregate score, winning on an away goal rule in the preliminary round to progress to the second round of the tournament for the first time.

The CHAN is a tournament open to players active in domestic leagues and Buffaloes’ marksman Sandile ‘Saviola’ Gamedze scored the all-important goal for Kostadin Papic’s men against Malawi.

Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe confirmed yesterday morning on national radio, the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS) Sports Show, that Sihlangu will host the first leg.

Sihlangu are expected to host Angola in the next round of the CHAN qualifiers between July 26 and August 4 this year.
The national team will come to this fixture with full knowledge of the capabilities and threats posed by the ‘Giant sable antelopes’ as they are fondly known in their native land.

Later this month, Sihlangu will get the first test against the Angolans when the two national teams meet in their opening group match of the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup to be staged in Durban, South Africa.

Papic will then get the leverage of planning ahead as to how Sihlangu will bury the game on home soil before they honour the reverse match away.
It will be a tough encounter as Angola are one of the teams that have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations finals to be held in Egypt.
