MBABANE – Identical twin brothers Mduduzi Alfred and Sifiso Africa Dlamini were inseparable in yesterday’s Mbabane Parkrun. The twins both attended the weekly 5km timed run but it was Mduduzi who crossed the finish line first, clocking 17:20 and Sifiso came through 36 seconds later.

Muhle Tours athlete, Wandile Dludlu, pursued the Dlamini brothers to the finish line, coming third just after the 18th minute mark. It was a fast-paced run and most of the regular parkrunners scanned their barcodes within 30 minutes.

The first lady to complete the run was University of Eswatini (UNESWA) athlete, Gcinile Magongo, who clocked 23:47 minutes. She became position 15 and held a record personal best of 22:40minutes.

“My target time is 20 minutes and I guess today I was a bit exhausted because I did not have enough sleep as I was studying for exams,” said the Environmental and Food Science student.

The parkrun is open to everyone and it is an initiative aimed at encouraging people to stay active in order to improve their physical wellbeing and health. It is not a race against other runners but against time.
