MBABANE – Tambuti Under-20 player Ndumiso Matsebula has won the EswatiniBank Under-20 Cup Top Goalscorer award.

Matsebula scored five goals in the tournament to take home the E3 000 prize money. Tambuti reached the finals for the first time and they went on to beat 2014 Champions Manzini Sundowns 2-1 in the finals played on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium.

Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Development Officer Banele Masondo confirmed that the player scored the highest goals and he will be the one taking home the E3 000.

Some of the individual awards that will be announced during the prize presentation include the players of the series, who will take home E4 000 and the best goalkeeper, who will be presented with E2 500.
Tambuti took home E45 000 after their triumph while runner-up Manzini Sundowns got E20 000 and semi-finalists Mbabane Swallows and Green Mamba each will receive E10 000.

happy

Tambuti coach Ishmael Zwane said he was happy with the victory even though it was not an easy journey.
“The team’s performance is good and you can tell that we have also lost one game in the league and now we are champions of this tournament. The team did very well,” he said.

The team’s captain, Mlungisi Gumedze, said they were very excited with the win and what pleased them the most was the fact that they played the game one man down after Mthokozisi Nsibandze was showed a red card in the first half of the match.
“When we equalised, we knew that we had to fight for another goal and it came. This gives us confidence that we can also go all the way and win the league,” he said.
